Oban FM are going to be broadcasting live at the Oban New Year Party from Tesco car park. A great success last year and set to break all records this coming new year celebrating the start of 2009.
Last year’s headliners
Skerryvore
return this time with their brass section – a real
treat for traditional music fans.
The Red Hot Chilli Pipers
have been in demand this year performing all over
the world, and turned down offers from some of
Scotland’s bigger events to come to Oban.
Specially formed for the event are the
Oban Homecoming Gaelic Choir
who will be accompanied by Mod gold
medallist Angus Smith, airing a self-penned Gaelic
song.
Also performing will be
Oban High School Pipe Band, a wonderful
group of youngsters who have in a short time gained
a tremendous reputation in no small measure thanks
to the dedication of world champion piper, Angus
McColl.
Other attractions include a spectacular fireworks
display and an exciting food arena.
Organisers say that in order for the event to pay
its way there has to be an admission charge which
they have kept to a minimum.
Tickets, priced £11.50 and £6.50 for children aged
5-12 years, are available from the Corran Halls box
office. KIDS
UNDER 5 GO FREE
Tickets will
also be available from the the
website in three weeks time to allow residents
in the Oban area the first opportunity to buy the
tickets.
